Starting Over

Signs of Life - Melanie Hansen

This is book # 2 in the Resilient Love series. I found that it can be read as a standalone, but I always caution readers that it is more enjoyable if you read them in order.

Jeremy has lost everything that has been important to him. His husband Brent dies only a month or so before the baby they were about to have is stillborn. He cannot stay and act like things are normal, so he moves and tries to start over completely.

When he meets Kai, he is surprised by the hottest experience of his life. Then he feels guilty that he is forgetting about his late husband. He ends up hurting Kai and not sure how to solve what has happened when he has no way to contact him.

Then fate intervenes the hard way. His home is attacked and partially destroyed by teenage vandals. Jeremy wants to be understanding, but he also wants them to have some kind of punishment. Kai is the teacher to many of them and soon they have to see one another on a weekly basis.

Kai and Jeremy end up getting together again, simply because the pull is so strong between them. Can they work things out to be more than friends and a hook up? It's going to take some soul searching and effort on both ends.

I found this story to be many things. Sad, serious, funny, amazing, strong. I was impressed with the authors take on how real life can make you stronger if you let it. It is an amazing story and I give it a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
