This is book #2, in the Jameson Force Security series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and to better understand the series, I recommend reading it in the order intended.

Cruce is proud to be a part of a new group.  While different, yet still the same intention, he works well with his team and glad to do it.  Then he meets his new assignment.  She is sure to be a challenge, but he vows to keep her safe.  

Barrett is having a hard time believing anyone would need to harm her.  She barely lives - so what is to come to her to accomplish?  Her ideas can be great, but until she puts them into action it still seems awfully premature.  Then the unspeakable happens......

This couple was just a spark, dare I say a kiss, away from igniting.  They are both professionals who take their jobs seriously.  Like all of this author's books - it is fast paced while at the same time sexy as hell.  Only this one was more subtle than most.  I found the story extremely interesting.  While the leads playing off one another sealed the deal for me.  This was a great addition to the series.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
