“Holy crap! You’re like, that guy! You’re the cop!”
Luc Moretti deliberately ignored the high-pitched squeal.
He took a slow sip of his much-needed coffee and threw up a silent prayer that for once, the women would be talking about some other cop.
“Tina, it is him! The cop from the YouTube video!”
Shit.
Pray as he might, it was never some other officer who was subjected to over-enthusiastic hero-worship. Not these days, anyway. It was always Luc who couldn’t do so much as get on the A train without hearing some form of, hey, aren’t you that guy…?
Yes. Yes he was that fucking guy. Unfortunately.
“Can we get a picture with you?” one of the women asked as they both closed in on him.
“Actually, I—”
Luc’s ready protest was interrupted by the deep voice of his partner.
“Ladies, ladies, let’s give Officer Moretti some space! The man likes to refresh his makeup before a photo op. Moretti, did you bring that special lip balm you like to use? The one you say makes your lips all rosy?”
Luc’s eyes narrowed at his partner as he reached up and scratched his nose with his middle finger.
Both women had already pulled cell phones out of their purses, ready for a shot with New York’s latest hero.

Q&A with Kitty’s Book Spot: FRISK ME Tour
1. You have said you love wine. Any favorite brands or flavors?
Hmm, I love a nice glass of red wine with dinner (especially during the cooler months), but for the most part, I prefer white wine. I’ve been REALLY into Italian whites lately. Dare to go beyond Pinot Grigio! Take a risk! There are some super affordable whites out there that are amazing for sipping on a patio on a summer evening.
2. I have read somewhere you were training for a half-marathon. Has it happened? How did that go? Was it a goal you had set for yourself? Want to share a pic of those awesome pink shoes?
Oh man. * Hangs head in shame. * I had to back out of the half marathon due to body rebellion. I’ve yet to figure out how to get my legs to cooperate in running more than 7 miles at a time. Guess I’m more of a 5k or 10k gal for now. I’ve definitely realized that running 3 miles a few times a week is my happy place. Enough to get my body moving without hurting myself. And my pink shoes ARE awesome, huh?! Here’s a picture, but let’s try to ignore how creepy my ankles look from this angle?! Also, if you’re wondering, yes, my feet ARE freaking huge. These pink wonders are a size 10 despite the fact that I’m not that tall (5’6).
3. Rumor has it you have moved quite a bit. Do you have a favorite city where you have lived? What did you find in each of the places you were at that you liked?
Oh gosh, hard to say! While I’m absolutely loving Chicago (my current home), I’d have to say that New York is still the city of my heart. We’d absolutely still be there if it wasn’t so dang expensive. I think what I love most about New York is the same thing I’m finding with Chicago—there’s so much energy. I’m from the west coast originally, where people are a bit more laid back, and I love the ambition and go-go-go! of the east coast. I love that everyone is always doing something. Walking through the streets of Manhattan on a workday, I was always looking at all the Suits, thinking, “Yes, give me some of that sweet sweet energy! Also, can I lick your neck?!”
4. You have said you married your high school sweetheart. Does that romance with your hubby influence your books?
Ha, you know, it probably does, but he’s been a part of my life since I was fifteen (I’ve spent more of my life with him than without him!) and I think a long term relationship like that can influence you in ways that you’re not even conscious of. That being said, I will say that my favorite heroes to write are the ones that are most like my hero; charming, quick-witted and gentlemen.
5. You have an amazing sense of humor. It keeps me coming back for more! Are you always this funny, or do you feel more inclined to share the sillies inside of a book?
Ha, thank you!! To be honest, my books are a pretty toned-down version of my humor. If it were up to me, every character would be laugh-out-loud funny, but I try to remind myself that I can’t keep writing the same heroine/hero over and over again, so I do try to get some more serious characters in the mix. As far as me in real life, I’m definitely the sarcastic girl making snarky quips in the corner in any given situation. A little bit awkward perhaps, but yes, hopefully funny
