Frenemies

Image
Wren and Fuller have history.  That's right, and not the good kind either.  Wren had been hurt repeatedly by being treated so poorly by the "in" crowd, of which Fuller is the leader, basically. Fuller is getting into some trouble academically.  His coach has a plan - but does not want anyone to know.  So Fuller treats it as he is interested in Wren, instead.  Little does he know how much truth is like fiction. This was such an amazing story!  I had never read this author's work before, but you can bet I will again.  I hope we revisit this group at this school.  There seems like a lot of potential for a series here.  I loved the banter, and even how enemies were able to become friends.  I found the story very compelling.  Deeper characters than meets the eye, it was a rich read with a lot more to it than originally thought.  I give this read a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was give in exchange for an ho...

But Jake isn’t ready to take a chance, no matter how crafty Haley’s willing to ge...

This is #2, in the Southern Charmed series.   This can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order. Haley has been in love with her brother's best friend for years.  When they have more in common during the school year - they end up spending time together.  Can she keep it a secret from her own BFF who thinks she is in love with Jake? Jake is finding this the worst year of his life.  The only thing he looks forward to right now is spending time with his best friend's little sister.  He wants to tell everyone but knows it will cut their time together short.  Will he get the guts to tell all? This  series  is so good.  I love the couples and friendships.  This is my favorite trope - no secret there - but I especially love when its done right.  I loved the characters and how rich and deep they were.  Considering all the touchy subjects to...

Blog Tour w/Review - The Rules Of Rebellion

Image
About The Rules of Rebellion: 1. Skinny dip (her idea) 2. Prank someone (his idea) 3. Stargaze (her idea) 4. Kiss someone (his idea)   Leo Zimmerman has had a crush on his curvy best friend Kylie Jenkins since forever, so When he discovers the girl with a flair for baking has a newfound plan to rebel against her overbearing parents, he’s determined to be the one to help her carry it out. Who better than a self-proclaimed rebel like himself to show her the ropes of letting loose?   Sure, taking her to her first high school party, helping her sneak out of the house, or watching a sunset together isn’t exactly a hardship, but much harder is masking his feelings the more time they spend together. And when he suggests adding “kiss a boy” to Kylie’s plan and she accepts…suddenly all his dreams seem to be coming true. But Leo’s got a secret that could change everything between them, and it’s only a matte...

Communicate

Image
Leo has been in love with Kylie since they were younger.  He is afraid to bring it up but knows he must do it soon.  She has her eye on someone else and he could miss his chance. Kylie is really put on the spot when her sister infers to her friend that they should go out.  She is not sure what to do now.  All she thinks about is Leo.  Where to go from here? This was an amazing story that I could not put down.  I loved it all.  The humor, the banter, the friendships.... it was just so good.  I am new to this author, but you can bet I will be catching up.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review.

Blog Tour w/Review - The Dating Debate

Image
About The Dating Debate: Nina Barnes thinks Valentine’s Day should be optional. That way single people like her wouldn’t be subjected to kissy Cupids all over the place. That is, until her mom moves them next door to the brooding hottie of Greenbrier High, West Smith. He’s funny, looks amazing in a black leather jacket, and he’s fluent in Harry Potter, but she’s not sure he’s boyfriend material.    West isn’t sure what to make of Nina. She’s cute and loves to read as much as he does, but she seems to need to debate everything and she has a pathological insistence on telling the truth. And West doesn’t exactly know how to handle that, since his entire life is a carefully constructed secret. Dating the girl next door could be a ton of fun, but only if Nina never finds out the truth about his home life. It’s one secret that could bring them together or rip them apart.  ...

Honesty

Image
Nina thinks that certain holidays are just a bunch of hooey.  She knows from personal experience that some relationships never work out.  Instead, she tries to debate her surly neighbor and finds she may be attracted to him. West is not sure what to make of his neighbor.  She seems like an attractive person.  She just always seems to take the opposition's position.  Why do some women do that?   This was a book that had me laughing out loud at parts.  These characters were fun to read.  They do seem like opposites attract.  The part where they compliment each other with their issues is a bonus.  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review, by Netgalley and its publisher.

Solution

Image
Eden & Josh have been best friends for so long. They share each other's secrets. When a new secret arises, can Eden help Josh to solve his problem? Josh wants Eden to help him find a girl. She does not want him finding just any girl. So he enlists her help. Along the way, they see their relationship in a whole new light.... These characters are just such a joy to read. I love their solidarity. The banter is so much fun too. I found myself eagerly absorbing every page. Such a great read.  ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

Switched

Image
Alice AKA "Al" and her twin brother try out for a local hockey team after moving to Chicago.  She wants on this team so bad she will literally do anything.  There she meets Hayden. She is immediately attracted and the sparks fly between them anytime they meet. Hayden does not want to be interested in his teammates sister.  This is typically taboo behavior among hockey players.  He just cannot help how he feels anytime she his near. This is an original story with an unusual twist.  Surprises are inside!  I love the characters banter and the heat between the MC's nearly leapt off the pages.  I devoured every page and then wished there were more.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review by Netgalley and the publishers.

Waiting

Image
This book is #3 in the North Pole, Minnesota series .  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and to have a greater understanding of the series, I recommend reading this series in order. Danny has just been devastated by his now ex-girlfriend.  Also - by an unplanned injury.  So when he meets the newest visitors to his fine town, he is not at his best.  Can he overcome his fear of rejection to make a better impression on the right girl? Holly and Elda are cousins who are visiting their grandmother's hometown to say goodbye to her for the last time.  They meet Danny again, only to both admit attraction for the guy.  Holly makes the sacrifice, to allow Elda to get closer to Danny. This is another love triangle story, with a twist.  It is in the spirit of love that the main character allows her loved one to go after the boy she has always wanted.  I think the entire town is quirky and this series is a lot o...

Blog Tour w/Review - Tied Up In You

Image
Tied Up in You by Erin Fletcher Release Date: 7/10/17   About the book:   Everyone says hotshot goalie Luke Jackson is God’s gift to girls, but the only girl he wants is his best friend, Malina Hall. He’s always known how brilliant she is, but now that he’s “accidentally” kissed her, he can’t stop thinking about her…or wanting to kiss her again.   Problem is, things have been a little…awkward since the kiss. Because she likes him, too? Hopefully, but even if she did, their futures—and the ridiculous schedules that come with them—are in the way. And now one of his teammates is showing interest, and the guy has more in common with Malina than Jackson ever will.   As her best friend, Jackson should get out of the way. But if there’s one thing he’s learned from hockey, it’s that you have to go for what you want, even if it means falling flat on your face. A...

Connected

Image
This is book #2, in the All Laced Up series .  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this great series in order. Malina and Luke AKA Jackson, have been best friends a long time.  They used to do everything together.  Lately, school and other commitments have kept them further apart.  So when they do spend time together, they seem to fight a lot. Jackson knows he should not be feeling attracted and hot over his best friend, but he cannot seem to put aside his feelings.  When they go on a double date, jealousy gets the better of him and he almost self destructs! There was so much to love about this story, where do I start?  The characters were amazing.  They were real, flawed, and felt all the feels.  The banter was so much fun.  I laughed out loud, I cried, I just basically enjoyed this novel right to the very last page!  I give this book a 5/5 ...

Burned

Image
Tinka & Sam are neighbors with a common cause.  They are sick of others trying to set them up with people completely unfit for them.  They mean well, but really, who can choose but you for a significant other? Sam is interested right away.  Only he has virtually no experience with which to entice Tinka to be his.  So he goes along with the scheme he unwittingly started out of desperation.  Along the way, they start to feel more real.  If only they could both be on the same page..... This book was seriously what we call a slow burn.  I was really turned off by how shallow and petty most of the characters were.  I was about to put the book down - when, would you believe, it started back the other way.  I felt every feel with this story and at the end was never so happy to get my HEA.  At least I think I got one.  Anyway, I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an hones...

Melting ice

Image
Pierce & Lia have known one another for many years.  Only one of them remembers the other.  Can an unlikely friendship start and actually turn into more? Lia is rather disgusted that Pierce has forgotten who she is.  If he ever knew, that is.  All of that aside, now they have to work together toward a common goal. The chemistry is off the charts!  This couple is so meant to be.  I loved reading their story and maybe, just maybe the author will let us visit them again.  The character development was great.  I loved watching the couple get stronger together.  I cannot wait to see what is next in this series!  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC was given by Netgalley and its publisher, in exchange for an honest review only.
