Kitty's Book Spot!

Felicity has had many hits and they keep on coming.  Her kids are her life.  She lives in a town where her family gathers around them, but they are needy unto themselves.  She wants to stop living in the past and move on. Graham knows he must learn to live in the now.  It is hard when you have a child who cannot seem to forigve you your foibles.  With this new attraction to an old friend, can he discover what it means to make a new family? This story had some great characters.  My issue with this book was that they were all presernt and accounted for.  The whole town, all the famlies, and it felt more than full it felt like a bucket overflowing.  The story itself moved at a fast pace.  It was just a struggle to keep up where maybe some of the storylines would have been best in their own book.  I give this read a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publishers, in exchange for an honest re...

Cassaundra AKA Cass meets Andrew AKA Drew at their mutual therapist's office.  At first, she is not sure if she has more than friendship to give.  They are both in therapy, after all.  Denying the attraction is not working, so she might as well give it a shot. Andrew AKA Drew is excited the hot woman is willing to go out with him.  They have a lot in common.  She makes him feel better than he has in a long time.  Being a police office takes it toll after a while and she is a soothing balm. These characters needed one another and it was so nice to read how they came to be a couple.  The attraction and heat was there from the beginning.  This was a great story that helps you understand and feel for the main characters plight.  I enjoyed this and am excited to read the rest of the  Kingsley series .  I give this a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

This is the story of May, and how she had to already be a grown up, even as a young girl.  She was already being like a mother to her sibling.  As a teen, making choices is hard.  It touches on sensitive subjects like rape, abortion, and such. Elijah AKA Alex also has had a hard road.  By the time they meet, he is the one who clearly sees May for who she is.  He does not see a broken girl, who has made hard choices.  He sees as he wants to be seen.  I think he also sees clearly. This story is done so well.  It may be hard to hear or to read, but sometimes you just have to know what to say or what to do.  What if you are in that situation?  Really is nicely done and the tough subjects give us a clear picture.  You cannot save anyone but yourself.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This copy was given by Netgalley and its publishers in exchange for an honest review only.

This story just jumps right into the friendships of the four girls: Monica, Nora, Grace & Ozzie.  We read mostly about Nora and where she is later, after the others have gone on.  She suddenly hears from the group of girls wanting to get together. Nora is just trying to live her life in her own way.  Now with the girls asking to get back together after so long - and with no warning - since none of them have been in touch in so many years.  Should she give them a chance? If a reunion in Chicago is a way to face the past...can these 4 women put to bed the old pain and fears?  Can Nora forgive and move on?  Will it tear them all apart? I was kind of humbled by the simple and yet profound way the author approached the topic.  Highly unusual for a story to take this direction and it works, somehow. ***This ARC was given by Edelweiss and its publisher for an honest review.
