Justin tends to be inside his head.  Not too many people understand him, and fewer try.  He has a few friends who seem to care.  This year it looks like that may change.  Like everything may change. Dominic is back and living next door.  The past is catching up to both of them as they realize they may have more in common that they thought.  If he can just tell Justin the truth, and hang on to a friendship that could turn into more, this may be their year. Characters that move me, well more than one per book is rare.  I found I loved both of this couple as it motivated me to read faster and get to the end.  I was pleased that there was romance, charm, and more among the angst.  So many surprises and a worthwhile read.  Hope we revisit this bunch of friends.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This copy was given in exchange for an honest review.

Frenemies

Wren and Fuller have history.  That's right, and not the good kind either.  Wren had been hurt repeatedly by being treated so poorly by the "in" crowd, of which Fuller is the leader, basically. Fuller is getting into some trouble academically.  His coach has a plan - but does not want anyone to know.  So Fuller treats it as he is interested in Wren, instead.  Little does he know how much truth is like fiction. This was such an amazing story!  I had never read this author's work before, but you can bet I will again.  I hope we revisit this group at this school.  There seems like a lot of potential for a series here.  I loved the banter, and even how enemies were able to become friends.  I found the story very compelling.  Deeper characters than meets the eye, it was a rich read with a lot more to it than originally thought.  I give this read a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was give in exchange for an ho...

Lucy and Riley have a secret.  Lucy hates Riley, but he is her guilty pleasure.  She is crazy attracted to him and can't seem to stop herself.  If has ruined her high school years, so far. Riley lives right next door.  The hockey star, and all around best looking student.  He needs her help now.  He wants to do all he can to stay on the team.  This could be Lucy's chance for some payback. Such a short but very hot story.  These characters have an extremely shocking attraction.  I found myself strangely enthralled.  Now I cannot wait to read the next installment in this soon to be epic series.  I give this read a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was given by Netgalley and its publishers, in exchange for an honest review only.

Pretend

This is book #2, in the Girls Of Summer series.   This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and to completely understand the series, I recommend reading these in order. Rachel is ok with being set up on a blind date.  She is used to coming in second.  She is used to being the backup.  When she explains this to Adam, however, he proposes something different that she knows will end up the same. Adam is ready for a change.  Or is he?  His ex is always near and he needs to really be done with her.  Maybe being with Rachel is the answer.  Can he be who she needs when it is a critical time for her? This book felt like a slow burn.  It took a bit for me to feel like it got started.  I was patient since I really loved the first book in this  amazing series ,  There were little cameos of the characters I had already come to love.  I cannot wait for the next installment.  I like the w...

Victoria AKA "Vic" is gonna play baseball.  Who cares if it is a male dominated sport.  She signed up, showed up, and played hard.  She is gonna prove herself if it kills her. Daniel knows she has a boyfriend, but he also knows the guy is a tool.  He cannot help but be interested in a girl who knows her own mind.  She can play baseball, and is a great addition to the team. This book felt like is was fast paced.  I love the characters and eagerly devoured each page.  I felt like this book was a great read.  The story was rich, the characters fun to read, and the heat was just gentle.  I cannot wait to read the next installment!  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Wavering

This is book #2 in the All Saints High series.   This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding of the series, I recommend reading this compelling series in order. Knight is the best friend to the very love of his life.  They have grown up together, the children of parents who are also best friends.  More like family.  So being in love with her is basically a no-no. Luna has long known that Knight, with his outgoing personality, will outgrow her and move on soon.  She is trying to come to terms with it and be grateful she has had him her whole life as such a good friend.  Really loving someone and knowing you have to let them go is painful. This book just did it to me.  I laughed, I cried, & I hurt for the characters too.  This story has a little of everything.  This series is so strong and exciting with so many surprises!  Always a go to author, this book is just another example of why I pi...

Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming — mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account.    Enter Jack , class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time.    All’s fair in love and cheese — that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitte...

Pepper is trying not to be crushed by all the demands in her life.  As swim team captain, a completely straight A student, and her parents demands of her input into their company.  She is just a high school student who should have just been a girl, meeting a boy, hoping he likes her.  If only. Jack is a total pretender.  He pretends to be ok with the whole school assuming he is his brother.  He pretends not to know all the goings on through an app he runs.  He pretends to be a normal teenager, like all the others.  What he really is well, is a boy.  Just a boy, hoping to meet a girl who will like him for just being himself, and not his popular brother. The characters have the sparks right from the start!  Already like oil and water, there are many secrets to high school, and even more between the main MC's.  That is before all the public hype too.  Is it love, is it war?  Is it just high school?  I laughed...

For reference, see Sally Spitz.   Seventeen-year-old Sally Spitz is done with dating. Sally AKA "Spitz" to most, is best friends with Becks.  They have been close since they were young children.  Too bad he has no idea she has been in love with him the whole time.  It is an unlikely pair, as he is the hottest guy in school, and she is a well known geek. Baldwin AKA "Becks" is very glad to be Sally's best friend.  He has secrets of his own he has not shared.  When she asks him a favor, he has no problem saying yes.  Will it get even more complicated when the whole school finds out? This was such an amazing story.  I found the characters to be rather deep and compelling.  I was absolutely enthralled and did not put the book down until I had read the entire thing.  Then I wanted to read it again.  This was a new author for me - but you can bet I will read all her works now.  I give this read a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review, by Netgalley and its publishe...

Surprises

Image
This is book #3, in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before series.   This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order. Lara Jean' story continues in this book with her deciding where to go to college.  She has so much going on with finishing her senior year in high school, planning a wedding, and figuring out where she stands with Peter and other boys in her life. Peter just wants to enjoy being with Lara Jean.  He wants to hear words of forever and always.  While they are having to decide where they stand as a couple and what they will do for school, there are outside commentaries that seem to effect the status quo. This last installment in the series made me want to beg the author for just one more book.  I love the characters.  I have grown to love their families, the community, and I am so grateful to have taken the time to get to know these characte...

Hottie

Image
This is the box set of the Over The Fence series.   This is a collection of several books from the same series.  Each book is actually a standalone novel.  Works well if you read them in order.   For review purposes I have chosen to focus on  PITCHING TO WIN . Minka has had one major hurt after another.  The latest being the high school humiliation that everyone dreads.  Only in her case it may be repeating itself. Owen wants to have more with Minka.  He is all she has chosen to avoid and more.  His attraction to her brains, beauty, and sass is overwhelming and he cannot seem to stay away.   Such a great start to a  very sexy series.   This book jumps right in and the sparks are flying basically from the start.  While the main characters are trying to not to get burned by the flame, we see them steer toward one another rather than away.  I liked seeing them both grow stronger as they choose to be...

This is book #2, in the  To All The Boys I've Loved Before series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For complete understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order. Lara Jean's story continues as she navigates high school, loving boys, and family obligations.  At the heart of her she is serious, and honest.  Her back and forth with Peter is challenged in this installment by the appearance of John. Peter is trying to understanding the changes and speed of life.  When his love becomes a triangle he is so confused and angry.  Mostly he is hurt that it was even possible.  Sure, he stays in touch and tries to help his ex, Genevieve.  He never thought Laura Jean would walk away. This book was so full of action I actually read it twice.  The pace is rather fast once it gets going, and the characters are all caught up in the action that consists of high school and getting re...

Revenge

Image
Penn has much to blame on Daria.  After he helped her to shoo his sister away, he spends the next four years on ice.  Literally not feeling anything, until he sees her again. Daria has been trying to be seen.  She is not seen or heard at home.  She gravitates toward the loners, even though she is part of the popular kids at school.  Her attraction to Penn is the only thing she really feels. This dark romance was quite the surprise.  I felt all the feels.  I laughed, cried, and basically begged for mercy as I got closer to the end of the book.  This is a story full of very deep and rich characters.  I found myself spellbound by them and wondering what they would do next.  I think this was a great read.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Surprise

Image
This book is #5, in The Field Party series.   This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and have a better understanding of the series, I recommend reading this series in order. Ryker can have any woman he wants.  He knows it, they know it.  With the new school year brings Aurora, a teammates sister.  He is drawn to her and they connect quickly. Aurora is deaf.  This is her first chance to go to a "regular" school.  She wants to be part of the normal her football hero twin gets to have. Only her brother is overprotective and her father is overcontrolling. Surprises are in store for many of the characters in this story,  I love that we revisit our favorites,  This  series  is fast becoming a favorite of mine!  Looks become the new banter in this installment, and the sexy is so amazingly hot!  The main characters do not know what hit them as they try to navigate high school and fir...

Lara Jean Song has a lot on her plate as a sixteen year old girl in high school.  She lost her mother when young, and lives with her father and two sisters.  Her older sister is going away to college, and Lara Jean feels like this could be her year.  Until love letters she has kept hidden somehow get sent to the boys she wrote them to. Along the way she rekindles a friendship with Peter, and maybe Josh.  She intends to solve the mystery of how the letters got out.  She also finds out what makes a teenager popular.  This is a story of more than just romance.  It is a yearning and a growth. I was a bit sad to find that the book itself is quite thorough and varied and had split the attention away from more than just the main character.  After a while it grew on me and I just enjoyed the humor and "cultural" and teenage funnies.  As for what happens, well there are more books to this  series , and I intend to read them....

Donald has had a crush on Alaina for a long time.  They have history as both friends and enemies.  Now he has more urgent matter to attend to.  He has a bet to fulfill. Alaina is afraid to give Donald another chance to be her friend.  He totally blew it the first time.  She cannot help responding to him, she always does.  Now her friends are noticing the difference, and she is not sure she can resist. Very cute and sweet story.  Has more dark and oddly twisted moments.  Good overall pace, actions, heat and plot.  I enjoyed the banter and wanted to slap some of the background characters.  Felt a lot like I had revisited high school.  I give this a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This copy was given by Netgalley and its publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Tell Me

Image
Amber goes to a high school where sex ed is treated almost as a joke.  She has friends who sincerely want answers to their questions.  She also has a mom who writes romance fiction and is not afraid to answer such questions. Dean is a new friend that just happens to be hot.  The fact the he is attracted to Amber is both a plus and a minus.  She has sworn off dating right now, after the last creep she went out with.  How can he convince her to be more? This was such an interesting story.  Right from the beginning, I was sucked in by the humor and compelling issues that surround the main characters and sets the tone.  I loved the pace going nice and fast.  I loved the fact that the nerds here are good looking and felt this story was quote original.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publisher in exchange for an honest review.
