This is book # 4 in the Friends First series.   It can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading any series book in order for reader enjoyment and understanding.  Jack and Maya met the same night she met her ex-husband. Their relationship, if you can call it that, is a very complicated one. He was a foster child taken in by her ex-husbands family. She was someone he wanted but couldn't have. Now 2 years have gone by and he sees her - and that's it. He has sacrificed for what? He admits to himself he needs her in his life. She calms him. Makes him a better, happier person. He has missed even being her friend. Maya knows he is only in town temporarily. There is so much going on and her ex and his family are to blame for much of it. Can she forgive? She knows she will never forget. This is such an amazing story.  This whole series is made up of characters that make you root for them and their friendships . I loved the character development that was easy to see from book...
