Not really

Beckett meets Lee since he wants to be the entertainment at his restaurant.  Lee is kind of exasperated at first that his sister uses this as a solution for the sales falling.  Then something unexpected happens. Lee is suddenly interested in Beckett, and he is not sure what to do about it.  I would have not had a problem with the trope itself.  It for me, was that it was all so sudden.  The book was short, and maybe for me I like the slow burn.  I just really had to push myself to finish this one.  I give this one 2/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

My heart

This is book # 2, in the Hidden Hitman series .  This book is not meant to be a standalone novel.  For reader understanding and enjoyment, I recommend reading the series in order. Alejandro AKA "Ale" & Emmett AKA "Emme" are together and know that someday soon Ale will get his memory back and it could all come tumbling down.  In the mean time, they spend as much time together as possible.  Being alone feels like cheating, but lives are on the line. Emmett knows it will end when Ale gets his memory back.  Every moment is precious since it will all crash and burn.  Secrets have a way of always coming out.  Will Ale forgive the deception? This series has a habit of sucking you right in.  The storyline is strong and the characters are sincere.  I found myself rooting for the characters to be together.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book

Only you

Jordan and Rick have been best friends a long time.  Now they are headed in different directions for college.  Jordan feels bad that he never told Rick how he feels.  He is afraid of rejection from someone so important to him. Rick has a surprise to tell Jordan, of his own.  Jordan cannot believe the words coming out of his mouth.  Does he just want to experiment?  Is this a joke?  It hurts when the love of your life wants to play the field. Jordan and Rick cannot resist the attraction that is pulling at them.  They have always been there for each other.  Why would now be any different?  The second they kiss..... Such an amazingly sweet story with a lot of heat.  I was shocked at the real emotion the author has the characters show us.  I was hooked.  Cannot wait to read the next book in the series.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Second chances

Michael and Dax keep meeting under less than ideal circumstances.  Michael is quick to assure Dax this is not normal.  Dax is very understanding. Dax has moved to this small town to start over after tragedy rocked his world.  In this new life he is creating, he wants to make friends and be kind to his neighbors.  Along the way, Michael's son makes all of this come together. Michael and Dax may have more than they counted on.  As they find out more about each other's lives, they may get more than they ask for.  It is a good thing they are good friends too. A very moving story.  I was riveted, and could not put it down!  The characters and the story are both challenging and sweet.  I happily give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC was given in exchange for an honest review.

Tom goes back to college only to find his roommate was promised he would live alone.  They do not get along, but Tom could care less what Reese wants since he only needs a place to crash and get the much needed sleep he deprives himself of.  Can they find common ground? Reese talks to Tom finally, and they make a truce of sorts.  They live like hermits in just their room, never leaving except for food, classes, and to shower.  Tom works himself to the bone to pay tuition on the weekends, but otherwise lives a closed off existence. Tom starts to notice his feelings for Reese and they end up friends.  Reese is kind of a people person, so eventually they come out to the main room to study instead of just hiding away.  Will the pasts that have scarred them ruin their future?  Can Tom forge a live of his own and move past his fathers mistakes?  I found this book so riveting!  I could NOT put it down.  I know this will be a book I...

More than friends

Xander met Chris on a basketball court.  They were inseparable ever since.  Best friends and so much more.  After high school graduation, they set off for college together. They ended up breaking records by playing basketball in high school, college and the pro's while on the same team.  Xander refused to be separated from Chris.  They were more like a married couple at this point. After tragedy struck, they had to choose whether these secrets they kept were necessary.  Such a sweet and incredible love story from beginning to end.  A true testament of love and friendship.  I found it to be a book for my keeper shelf!  I give it a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Feeling more

Image
Ryan starts out by trying to get over a breakup rut by going out with a co-worker.  His buddy has good intentions, and he ends up taking home a girl he is not really into.  He stays the night on the couch and talks with her cousin. The next morning, he realizes he and Zach, her cousin, can be friends.  They get along well and there is something between them.  Ryan assumes it is friendship since he has no other name to put to it. They get to know one another better as Zach tutors Ryan.  The more they talk, the more Ryan feels like Zach is holding something back.  Could he be attracted to him? This is a short and rather hot and sweet novella.  The friendship being the base makes it more believable.  I guess my issue is just how fast everything goes down.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Will meets Jack when he hires him to help remodel his kitchen.  Will is taking a leave of absence from his high pressure job on Wall Street and has bought a house to fix up.  Jack is a widower who makes a living making furniture and remodeling homes. Will is also basically a player who is attracted to his handman.  It's just that he is so built and so fine!  Jack seems friendly, but straight so he figures all that would ever happen is at least a friendship.  Then he sees a similar response in Jack's eyes.  Could it be? Jack is not sure what he is feeling.  He  has not felt like this in over twenty years.  An attraction to another man.  It is definitely there, but he has no idea what to do about it.  He was married for so long he is basically starting over. Will and Jack are friends, and they try to be honest with one another.  I liked that.  I found this story to be more believable since they were open about w...
