Kate is Aleksei's personal assistant.  She has feelings for him that only go one way.  He is a bigtime player and she knows there is no future there.  She decides its time to leave his employ. Aleksei will miss her.  He knows the attraction goes both ways.  He sees it in her eyes.  They have never acted upon it due to their professional association.  He cannot stop the wanting of her, though.
