Kitty's Book Spot!

This is an anthology of 6 books by 7 incredible authors.  FREE to you for a limited time only. I will choose one short story to write my review.  My review will be on Sarina Bowen's Lucky Shot. Bess is new employee working for an established sports agency.  With her birhday coming up, her boss invites her to dinner with some new clients.  She figures it will give her experience, so why not go? Mark AKA "Tank" is excited to be chosen to work with the team in New York.  He was more than pleased to meet such a sexy woman at dinner too.  Maybe they should get to know one another? This short story collection is set in the series Five Boroughs .  These can probably be read as standalone novellas, but would better read in order with the series.  There are three books included, but for the review purposes we will look at the first story, Rerouted. Chris is trying to move on with his life.  He is trying not to think about his past encounters with both Jace and Aiden.  The couple have a kind of open relationship that leaves room for someone like Chris. Aiden & Jace have been trying to come up with a way to talk Chris into coming back and being with them more.  He has been distant lately, and this is a cause for some concern.  Is  there something wrong? This was such a nice quick read.  Lovely characters I was excited to see again.  Also many visitors from the previous books in the series are present.  I like the fast pace of these books.  I also adore the banter and real world situations that...

Will & Cassie really bring it in this short story.  They are best friends who met in college.  She tells him she hates sex.... and suddenly it's all they can talk about. Cassie didn't mean to flash a flag in front of a bull, but she cannot take it back.  After a while, she does not want to.  Will is really good at kissing. Such a fun and seriously HOT story.  I enjoyed reading this and hope the author brings us more from the Will & Cassie camp.  Quick and hot read that I give this story a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

This is just a quick little read about a guy who runs away form home to go to college.  His parents do not approve, and he needs to make his own way. He runs literally into Ben.  Joel is not sure what to say or do as this new life is very brand spanking new.  Ben helps him heal a bit and learn the ropes. I found it to be a sweet book and just a simple 27 pages.  The story is sound and the characters are fun to read about.  I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Trista and Tanner fight all the time.  Their is so much chemistry between them.  They do not act in it, hence the fighting.  He works for her father and that makes him untouchable.  Or does it? Tanner follows Trista after she makes another escape from her father's home.  Before either of them can get caught, he tries to take her back.  And then the unthinkable happens.... Such a short and maybe too sweet story.  I loved the tension between them.  It felt real.  Like there were livewires from him to her.  Such a quick and fun read.  I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!   ***This ARC was given in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 4th book in the Mangrove Stories series .   While this book can be read as a standalone novel, the enjoyment for the reader and understanding of the content will make more sense if read in order.   Lazlo and Britton had been together while they both lived up in New York.  Back in another life and time for both of them.  While Britton had been in a sham of a marriage, and Lazlo had been a rentable guy. Britton has moved to Mangrove, and so had Lazlo for different reasons.  While they know that one another is neaby, neither one wants anything to do with the other.  Some things are meant to stay broken, aren't they? This is such a fun story about a couple who just need to be honest with one another!  Sometimes taking a chance can bring forth the future you were looking for.  There is so much going on in this book, and yet it is a joy to read.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

This is book # 8 in the A Matter of Time series .   This book should not be read as a standalone.  While it could be, if you are just wanting a nibble, the book is part of an ongoing series.  To not read it in order is to miss out on the epic love story. Jory and Sam are finally getting married in Chicago.  Where they previously had a domestic partnership and married in Canada, it is Jory's dream to be married at home.  Sam wants to give Jory his dream. Jory is also being targeted by a madman.  While they are looking forward to a continued future of family and wedded bliss, he is again in danger.  Guess he really is a trouble magnet, as Sam calls him. Such a great, if not quick book.  Good addition to the series.  I sure hope the author continues to have us stop in and see what they are up to.  Amazing story and characters - I enjoy reading about them every time.  I give this story a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

This anthology of books has Dean Brothers & Friend series , books 1-3.   As I usually tell you, I think it is best to read them in order so you have full understanding when you read the next book in line.  This book is a standalone, in the fact it has all 3 stories included. Some Like It Hot,  story for Cary and Nora, is such a sweet story of love and trust.  She does not think someone like him can love someone like her.  He just has to prove it. Playing Doctor , story for Alex and Libby, is a serious look at what can happen with love at first touch.  Can Alex convince Libby he no longer wants to play without her?  Absolute page turner that I could not put down! He Sees You When You're Sleeping , story for Booker and Frances, is a story about two best friends in love with one another and getting zero communication over it.  Once they share their secret, can they share their lives too?  I was touched by this story - was s...

Diego runs his kitchen and likes it.  He was already hurt by a man who was wrong for him.  Along comes his new pastry chef, who just happens to be the bosses nephew. Ben has his own past pain.  He wants a chance with Diego.  Diego cannot decide if the chance to take is worth it.  Will it be too late when he finally makes his decision known? Richard and Evan meet while Evan is planning Richard's brother's wedding.   The attraction is strong on both sides.  Evan assumes Richard is straight and so he figures there is no chance for them. Evan is in shock when the Christmas Eve wedding he has gone all out for is called off.  Richard, brother to one of the grooms, suddenly kisses Evan and changes his perspective.  They talk and learn they have little in common. Richard is feeling like this could be more than what they are making it out to be.  Evan is trying to push him away and he wants to know why.  Together, they are explosive. Oz is tutoring Xander in a class he has already taken.  They are immediately attracted to one another.  Oz is not sure he wants to come out and be vocal about it.  Xander is sure he cannot come out and let anyone know. Oz has been raised by his single mother.  She is concerned about him not telling her what is going on.  She never sees him with any friends, before Xander. Xander comes from a very strict religious household.  He is trying to find his way and plan his future, but he is sure his parents want him to be a certain way.  They also want him to work for his father. Very sweet and short story.  I like the honesty and the way the story progresses felt right.  I was a bit saddened by the rough comments toward a specific religion, as I felt that the story could be told without being rude to a certain church.  Outside of this, the story is a simple love story and is pleasant enough to read.  I give this book a 3/...

Ryan starts out by trying to get over a breakup rut by going out with a co-worker.  His buddy has good intentions, and he ends up taking home a girl he is not really into.  He stays the night on the couch and talks with her cousin. The next morning, he realizes he and Zach, her cousin, can be friends.  They get along well and there is something between them.  Ryan assumes it is friendship since he has no other name to put to it. They get to know one another better as Zach tutors Ryan.  The more they talk, the more Ryan feels like Zach is holding something back.  Could he be attracted to him? This is a short and rather hot and sweet novella.  The friendship being the base makes it more believable.  I guess my issue is just how fast everything goes down.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP! 

This is book 3.5 in the Trident Security series .    For best understanding and enjoyment of the story itself, it helps to go in the order intended.  As always, I advise readers to read the books in a series in order.  In this case, this book is an easy standalone, I just think this series is good and can be read either way. Parker and Shelby know one another from the exclusive club they both belong to.  When Parker brings his brother along to try to find out if he wants to be a part of the BDSM community, he causes trouble at the club and harms Shelby.  Parker is understandably furious and wants to take care of her.
