Cal comes home for the holidays to meet his sisters new beau, only to find he is already intimately acquainted with him.  His ex stands there and they treat one another like strangers.  Can he even call him an ex?   Andrew has been the one that got away.  The one who broke his heart.  He has tried to move on, but failed miserably.  Now with someone new on the horizon he is not even sure to pursue it since Andrew is back in his life.   This was such a reality check.  I loved the way it was handled.  I also love the author telling the story as it would have happened in real time.  I can only hope we get to see it on a big screen someday.  I give this read a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This early copy was given in return for an honest review.

This is book #6.5 in the Arizona Vengeance series.   This book should be read in conjunction with the authors Cold Fury series to fully enjoy.  It is not required, obviously, but will make the understanding easier.  It will also stop any spoilers that could occur. Rafe comes home to Raleigh under the most dire of circumstances.  His father is dying and there is nothing he can do about it except be there.  He chooses to move himself to be with family.  While there he meets back up with the love of his life, Calliope. Calliope has not been waiting for Rafe.  He hurt her so badly the last time they were together that she believes there is no going back.  While watching his family slowly fall apart while holding it all together simultaneously, she realizes she did miss him. Cara switched schools to get away from the past that has caused so much pain it haunts her.  Now she is trying to focus on her studies and try to ignore the hard bodies that are in her classes.  She is here to finish her degree. And a side job of the secret rumor mill is an odd thing to have, but she took what she had to. Braxton is immediately attracted to Cara.  He does not know why she is so standoffish to him.  Most women fall at his feet.  She interests him more than the other girls he knows.  He is a bit gun shy after his previous girlfriend and all her lies.  He wants an honest relationship, if there is such a thing.  This book just kept popping out surprises!  I found it to be fast paced, interesting, and full of wonderful content.  The story was a deep and provocative.  With every turn of the page, I was sucked in just that much more. I cannot wait to read the next installment to  this fun Cessna U Wildcats...

This is book #2, in the Starving For Southern series.   This story can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this great series in order.
