This book is the 3rd in The Boys of Summer series. Can be read as a standalone novel, but for reader's benefit, I always recommend the whole series be read in order.
Jessica Hart and Gavin King meet when he is traded to the New Jersey Sonics team she works for as a physical therapist. The attraction between them is instant. Jessica is gun shy since she has already dated a baseball player who treated her poorly.
Gavin takes an immediate interest in Jessica. He is trying to adjust to being traded, moving to a new place, and getting to know and try to be part of the team. She just makes him feel at peace. Like he can learn to love New Jersey and make it home.
Jessica is happy to be friends with Gavin. They click really well and she does find him attractive. She just does not want to be hurt and sidelined like her last relationship did. When her ex comes to town, what is a girl to do?
Gavin wants to take her and their relationship to the next level. Can he overcome his own fears to help her past hers? They are great as friends. Is it worth it to risk what they have for what comes next?
This was an amazing story that gave me serious feels. They are both just running from their pasts and trying so hard. I was absolutely enthralled by the banter and the sexy times were good too. I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
