“I’ve always believed for every person there was only one love that would last a lifetime. I never understood quite what it meant until I met you though. You’re it for me, Lorrie. You are my love that lasts a lifetime.” ~Curtis Walker

A love story 50 years in the making…

Curtis Walker has lived his life to the fullest and he attributes that to the woman who has always been by his side. The one thing he knows with absolute certainty: he can’t live without her. Especially not now.

A love that has withstood the test of time…

It’s no secret that Curtis and Lorrie, the proud parents of the seven wild and rowdy Walker brothers, have found their happily ever after. Now, it’s time for the emotional journey of how they got there.

Curtis (Coyote Ridge, #1)Curtis by Nicole Edwards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you have read the authors Alluring Indulgence series, then you were already familiar with the names Curtis and Lorrie. They are the parents of the men in the series. The Walker family is tight and loving.

Curits and Lorrie's story starts out when they are young. They talk and learn about one another. It all starts out very innocent, but sincere. Lorrie cannot stop thinking about him. Curtis thinks he sees his future in her eyes.

This is an epic love story for the ages. It takes us back in time to understand a love that is fierce as it is gentle. I found it to be a great read in a book that I cannot put down. This one is a keeper for my shelf.

1. What type of play list did you have for this book?

The playlist for Curtis contained 71 songs in total. Everyone from Patsy Cline to Nathaniel Rateliff. It consisted of all country music because that was what the book warranted.

2. Were there certain songs that moved you more than others during this book?

I think I was drawn to S.O.B. by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Riot by Rascal Flatts the most. The book was very emotional in every sense, so a lot of the songs were emotional. As for S.O.B. – that song makes me think of Curtis.

3. Did any song help inspire any part of the book or a scene?

Withdrawals by Tyler Farr – this song inspired an entire section of the book.  If you read it, I get the feeling you’ll know which one.

4. How does music in general play into your book writing?

The music is always in the background. Before I start writing a book, I find songs that remind me of the characters. Sometimes I’ll nix a song and find something else if the book warrants it. A few times, I’ve put a song on repeat when I’m writing a specific scene. Music is about feeling, it inspires emotion and being able to channel that when I write is helpful in so many ways.

5. Have you ever had a story or a character come to you from a song?

Yes, actually. It’s happened to me twice. Oddly enough, I can’t think which songs they were though, but I remember the moment when it hit me. Once I was in Target, the other time we were driving in the car. I have Shazam on my phone and anytime I hear a song that I love, I get the details – it’s a fabulous app for music lovers.

When she isn’t writing or plotting her next book (sometimes translated to “playing on Facebook”), Nicole loves to read and spend time with her family and her dogs.
